Lucky to be coming home some day...

I've been quite domestic today. I'm pretty impressed with myself. Even though I have every reason to be ashamed since it'd been [quite a while] since I did any washing.

I slept in, which was lovely, but I still should have been out of bed. I get a lot more done when my room is tidy.

This is going to be a fun/happy/sad week. Casey, Missy and I are going to Wineglass Bay on Tuesday and out to the Canton for tea with my mum and Zoe on Tuesday night. They're both leaving this weekend, though, and that will make me very, very sad.

Oh well.

Random picture from my computer as nothing in this post really calls for pictures:

Me in my Tamagotchi costume at my 19th Birthday 90s party last year.

Mum and I made it. Pretty cool, huh?

I'm a girl who's got a notion...

Today, Missy and I ventured forth to Deloraine. There was a friendly (although there were concussions and various other injuries, of course) football game on between 3 (1 on one side, 2 on the other) churches (well, 1 church, haha, but, 3 branches, I guess you'd say..?) that lots of my friends go to. I didn't really know who to barrack for, because I have friends in both, but I was sitting with a Launceston crowd. Launceston ended up winning in end, but I think all the boys had a fun time.

It was a great day, sitting in the sun and playing with as many babies as you can imagine!! Haha :) Kristen's mum even gave me and Missy a chicken, cheese, and mayo sandwich!! Stoked!

I also got to catch up with Josh Woolley, a good friend of mine from first year who I haven't seen since this time 2006. The last time I saw him he was thinking about going to Utah. He's now married and has a baby son. It's so crazy! (In a good way). I met his wife and baby and they're both very, very cool.

I also got to hang out a bit with Lisa, which is nice, since she is actually a real person outside of her blog. It's funny how Lisa's blog is like... the central trainstation.. All the people I was introduced to today (whose blogs I've read here and there for ages), said "Ah yes! I've read your blog!", and I have no doubt that they got to it through Lisa's.

Anyway. Hello Lisa.

Also: Missy and I went to the Raspberry Farm Cafe for afternoon tea. I had a lovely pumpkin and sweet potato soup and an apple and raspberry sponge. ($10 special! Bargain!) Missy had the most incredible icecream ever. Yum.

So much fun.

On our way back to Launceston, we decided to go to the gorge when we got home. Such a pretty afternoon. :)

I've been drinking so much water. I've probably had about 10 litres since Thursday morning. Addicted.

I feel like going for a walk but every time I leave the house, the plovers try to kill me. It's not funny! Stop laughing!

Two funny videos:

I need a nanna nap.

Sometimes, crazy's alright.

Finished digital.

Devin and I have to do our maths assignment next week but after that I only have two exams (a week from Monday and Wednesday), and then I'm home free! Yay!!!

I'm so tired. I will make a good post this weekend, I swear.

Thanks for reading!

I'm the girl with the best intentions...

I FINISHED SVR!!!

Hopefully I passed. :) I really, really, really hope so. I couldn't handle being in there again next year! No way!

Anyway, I've still got to finish digital, but I'm going to get up early and finish it off because after finishing SVR yesterday and today, my brain is absolutely fried!

But, as far as classes are concerned 3rd year is officially over, and that is the weirdest thing ever.

The most amazing duet ever was released the day before yesterday. Grace Potter (who is awesome), and Bethany Joy Galeotti (whose music is in my top 5 reasons for living) did a song called "I Want Something That I Want". It's to be featured on One Tree Hill in about 3 episodes or so, and it's going to be so great. Since I downloaded it on Tuesday night, I've listened to it probably 100 times!! It's only 2 minutes though, so don't judge! :)

Yay. So perfect.

EPF450

So, I reenrolled for next year..

And I'm pretty shocked that I'm signing up for classes that have a 4 in the unit code.

Just saying.

Buried in the flood...

I'm slogging through.

SVR is tiring.

Digital is pretty good, actually. I've just got to figure out a good proforma to put it all in.

But, I think SVR will be alright. So. That's nice.

It'd be really nice if this week was over. :)

Take this sinking boat and point it home, we still have time...

While you all fall to your knees to worship such a creative genius, I'll tell you what this is. Devin and I had to do an ICT assignment which needed to have students doing something with ICT. So, they hypothetically go out, take a digital photograph, edit it (if it needs it), and then make a collage on paper of the image. Then, scan it, put it back into photo story, and make a photo story presentation.

This is how mine turned out. I'm pretty pleased. Devin did a great job too but I haven't asked his permission to post his!! ;)

DVDs

I have a massive DVD collection.

Some days, I look at it and just think "Wow. This is amazing"

and some days, I think "what have I done!?"

It's the thief in the night to come and grab you...

Kina Grannis is the coolest.

Aside from having taken over youtube.com and crashing the superbowl and winning that contest, she's insanely awesome, runs marathons for cancer research, writes letters to her fans, gives video shout-outs to anyone who asks, takes requests, writes amazing originals, puts her own brilliant spin on covers, is hilarious, and really dang talented.

I played her song 'Strong Enough' at open mic night a few months ago. It went well. It's a great song.

so. Look her up on youtube. Kina. Grannis.

Or, kinagrannis.com

or, myspace.com/kinagrannis

That's my musical recommendation of today.

In other news, I have the beginnings of a cold but it's not taking off, hopefully.

I have to get two assignments done this week and I cannot afford to be stuck in bed, not able to breathe. So, say your prayers for me.

I am about to start my SVR assignment. Schooling, Values, and Reason. It's such a gross subject. It's exhausting and has a big dark cloud of pressure and nerves looming over it.

My blog recommendation(s) of today is/are www.sweetsalty.com; where Kate so eloquently writes about her experiences with losing one of her twins in the middle of last year. She's an incredible writer, and as far as I can tell, is actually writing a book at the moment. I think it's children's fiction, and it's gonna be beautiful.

Here's an example of something she wrote. She used it in a speech she gave last weekend at a memorial event for parents who have lost their babies.

'You may subscribe to ghosts or Jesus or angels or spirits or souls or God or guardians or energy or chakra or gospel or chi or serendipity or reincarnation or karma or molecules but really, what does it matter? We all love, fiercely.'

I love that. Because, even having religious beliefs, as I do, I think it's so beautiful to think that we all really do have something so pure and honest and perfect in common.

The other blog recommendation, is to www.untanglingknots.com, which I've known about since last summer, the blog of Karla, who also lost her baby, (see my April 14th post for more details), the precious Ava, in 2005.

Both of these women have provided me with some amazing reading this year. I'm more committed to their stories than I am/ever have been to any TV show (Yes, even One Tree Hill!!!) or book, because they're unfailingly real. They write that they're crushed and hurt and sad when they're crushed and hurt and sad, and they write about the times when life looks like it's looking up. They're both amazing writers, and I'd recommend their sites to anyone, especially women. :)

So,

I'm off to start SVR. Kill me.

You know we [don't] belong together...

For as long as I can remember, I've watched Home and Away. Then, this past.. hmm.. July, I decided to chuck in it. There were a lot of reasons.

1. Sally left.
2. The story lines were far beyond ridiculous.
3. I was spending approximately $200 a year on the TV Week so that I could be 'up' with what was happening before it happened.
4. I couldn't stand that stupid Nicole. She only moved her bottom jaw when she spoke! And she's a spoiled brat!
5. I based my evening around being able to see it.
6. If I watched Home and Away, I was 100% more likely to watch whatever came on after. I hardly watch television at all anymore.
7. I knew more about the characters of Home and Away more than I knew about my own friends and family.
8. The girls sleep around and it's FINE. :(
9. It was getting a little bit ludacris for its timeslot.
10. I'd just freakin' HAD it.

But, I'm not trying to discredit the work that goes into making a 5 nights-a-week show, and I don't mind who watches it. My life is so much better for not watching it, though, and, so, I'm sticking to it!

So, I didn't watch it for about 2 weeks or so leading up to the Olympics, and then it wasn't on during the Olympics, obviously, and then when it came back on, I just didn't watch it. It's good. :)

Devin and I got an entire assignment done today, 5 DAYS IN ADVANCE! So pleased. :)

Well done.

I'd really love to have heaps of people reading my blog. So please, encourage people you know to read it. I'd probably be way more entertaining, and post more regularly, if I knew people were reading ;)

Cheers :)

Anyway. I'm gonna get an early night. Gotta work tomorrow.

I wake up every day and feel brand new...(I hope you feel brand new too, because this is a monster blog and will take some energy to get through)

Well, hasn't it been a long time since I've updated the blog!?

Lots of things to report, and I'll start with the trip to Queensland.

Zoe and I went up to Brisbane and the Gold Coast at the beginning of September. We'd never been anywhere together outside of Tassie. There's a first time for everything. (There's also a last time for everything!) So, off we went, with plenty of money and fun to be had.

We arrived in Brisbane on Sunday the 31st of August and Zoe's cousin Piam and Piam's friend Kelly picked us up at the airport. We drove to Piam and Angus's apartment, which is right in the city, and relaxed a little bit before going out for tea.

On Monday, we got up nice and early, and got on the train to go to the Gold Coast, where Dreamworld awaited us! :)

This is me and Zoe trying to pose with Chuckie from the Rugrats on the Runaway Reptar rollercoaster (which is so nothardcore it's not even funny, but, Zoe squealed, of course).

Ah, to walk the bare streets of Dreamworld!

On Monday night, we went to Piam's aunty's (who cooked us an amazing meal) apartment, which is in the Aurora Tower in Brisbane. It's a 60-something floor tower, and has the most incredible city views I've ever seen. These are some of the (sort of dodgy) night time pics we took from their 60th floor skyhome! (Which, for most of the time, is inhabited by Piam's 19 year old first year uni student cousin! I live in a shoebox bedroom on campus at UTas, and he lives the (literal) high life! I can't imagine it!)

Then, on Tuesday, it was on to Warner Bros Movie World, which was insanely cool. We had such a good time there. Although, the Lethal Weapon lives up to its name and was a terribly harsh rollercoaster. The Superman rollercoaster, however, was fully sick ;)

Zoe wanted to take a nice photo of the two of us but I kept making awkward faces. And then I wouldn't, and she would. She kept saying "No, seriously, come on. Smile" Then, she'd take the photo, look at the face I'd made, and then laugh, "haha, that's a good one. Seriously, though."

We finally got a really nice one, but my hair is very messy, hey? The heat, and a 100kmph rollercoaster will do that!

I'm a Shrek fan, and enjoyed posing outside the Shrek store. I wonder what I was thinking about??

Zoe is a big Harry Potter fan, and she enjoyed posing outside the Harry Potter store!

We were go-go-go the whole time we were there. After spending the day at Movie World, we had to trek all the way to SeaWorld Resort (which is exactly 800 metres from Sea World, the last stop on the bus route we were on, and I was in no condition to walk 800 metres when we only had 15 minutes before our connection bus to the Australian Outback Spectacular.. or so we thought)

Anyway, we made it to the Outback Spectacular, and much like the Lethal Weapon, it lived up to its name. It was so wonderful. The show was wonderful. The cast was wonderful. The food was wonderful. Everything, wonderful. As you can see, I'm pretty smitten to be there.

On Wednesday, Zoe and I made our way from Sea World Resort to Pacific Fair and did some shopping. At lunch time, we caught up with two of my oldest friends who I haven't seen for 10 years. That was so lovely and it was so great to chat with them and find out what life is like for them, 10 years later. It's funny how things can feel so much the same as they always did, and you can chat like not a day has passed. The reality is, I'm twice the age I was when I last saw them. I almost have a degree, and I'm somewhat of a grown up (despite what some of these pictures may tell you.)

After being on the bus with about 15 Jonah Takaluas, and waiting about 1.5 hours for the bus to make its way to where we needed to be, we got on the train back to Brisbane. We hardly said a word to each other the whole way back. Not sure why ;)

On Wednesday night, we caught up with Zoe's aunt and uncle, and all the other family who were in Brisbane to celebrate Piam's 21st birthday.

Thursday and Friday were spent shopping out little tootsies off, and enjoying time with good friends and family. Here is a photo of Piam, Margie, me and Zoe chillin' out at the back of the bus. They are not my graffti tags on the wall, by the way. They are Zoe's ;)

It's so much fun to laugh at dumb stuff. Here's the thing. At Zoe's 21st in July, she kind of drunkenly revealed (lying, of course) to her family and friends that she and I were lifepartners and we were planning our committment ceremony. So, everyone in Queensland apparently heard about this, and we pretty much had to keep it up. Here is me and Zoe posing as a beautiful, loving couple before Piam's party ;)

And with Piam, the birthday girl (even though it was her BROTHER'S real birthday that day!!)...I love this photo.

Piam's 21st was a lot of fun. We laughed, ate, [drank], and had a really wonderful time with lots of people. Zoe and I are pretty good at making people laugh. We're especially good at making strangers laugh. Actually, we're better at making strangers laugh than we are at making our friends and family laugh. Our friends and family are over it and the novelty wore off the days we were born.

Anyway, that's about it for Queenland. We had a really wonderful time, as I'm sure you can tell from the pics. Sorry if I just used your monthly download quota with all those pictures!

Onto other news...

There are plovers outside Leprena at the moment. They're noisy, they're disruptive and they don't take no you-know-what from anyone. They lay their eggs on the ground, for goodness sake! However! Their babies have just arrived and are following them around. It's pretty dang cute. I know a lot of parents who would do anything in the world to protect their children, and I would do the same, especially if something a good 100 times bigger than us was stomping towards us and we didn't know why. So, I understand their hostility. But when I get up at 845am to be at class by 9, I really don't need an extra 3-4 minutes added to my walk to uni because I have to go around! (I guess that's God's way of giving me a little bit of incidental exercise ;) but, anyway!)

What else?

Uni has been hectic. So many assignments. Never ever over. This is our second last week of class, however.

I'm really looking forward to just relaxing the summer away. Not sure where I'm going to live, though.

Anyway. It's about bed time, I think.

Be good. :)
